South Coast Region wins 100 mile Challenge
The announcement from the South Coast Team that they took out the inagural 100 Mile Challenge was heard throughout the South Coast. Taking out the first place was an honour and recongition for all the hard work by the organisers, chefs, producers and volunteers on the day.
Less than one hour south from Sydney, green rolling hills and clean golden beaches mark the entrance to the NSW South Coast.
Seafood and dairy were traditionally fresh food highlights from our region: oysters from Greenwell Point, lobster from Ulladulla, Allowrie butter from Jamberoo and cheese from Bega and Bodalla, but this is changing.
Innovative growers and producers in our region are adding to this exceptional food story with organic teas, berries, bush tucker, honey, fruit and vegetables along with export-ready wagyu beef, alpaca, goat, pork, pickles and wines.A favourite on the day was the Main Course of Lobster and the match local wines by sommelier Toby Evans from Rick Stein at Bannisters in Mollymook. However it was the dessert from Berry Sourdough's John Evans that took the crowd crown.
